Many vendors offer “fast deployments” or “fast ROI” – but most of them are vague on how they actually achieve these things. The truth is, it is difficult for any vendor to guarantee they can make your technology deployment fast and successful – especially if they have no knowledge of your organization, internal infrastructure or business issues.

Fast, successful deployments are made possible with three key ingredients:

Technology

Process

People

Technology

Clearly, choosing the right product is a key component of any successful deployment. The vendor selection process itself is key in this decision – by looking at the needs of the organization in order to determine which product(s) are the best fit. Part of the selection process includes aspects of technical fit – for example does the solution fit into your technical infrastructure? Can your department support the solution? Is the technology a fit from a feature/function perspective? Does it satisfy the requirements outlined by the business users?

Process

Being able to organize a team of people working towards a goal is an essential part of a successful implementation. All projects have a goal – either to reduce cost, improve accuracy or some other tangible benefit. Projects usually (correction – always) have a budget and a timeline, which means there needs to be a plan on how the solution is going to be delivered in that timeline, within that budget. There needs to be a process to capture requirements, translate them into a technical design, perform the implementation and deploy it into production.

People

In the context of CPM implementations, “good people” means individuals that have the skills, experience and balance of business & technical savvy to properly implement a CPM solution. Good implementation people know how to deploy technology by following a defined process. They have also bring real-world experience of what works and what doesn’t, and can adapt to the realities of real-life implementations.

About AppVine

AppVine is an integrated software & services organization that provides implementation expertise in the deployment of our own solutions. Our consultants are experts on the technical and business aspects of AppVine’s solutions.
